This range consists of three edge finish variations in four sizes each - Diamond Stitch, Double Chevron Stitch and Satin Stitch.

The Satin Stitch design features a contrast stitch of Triple-Bean inside the Satin Stitch edge to bring an added luxuriousness to your sew-out. If you don't want a contrast, you can continue with the same thread color or you can omit this step altogether.

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN Machine Embroidery Applique Design Pattern

Brrr...  Snow has come early to some parts of the US.  How much fun do children have building a snowman!

I've named this design after the song about a snowman who comes to life by the placement of a magical hat found by some children, with whom he shares playful adventures before he has to "hurry on his way" (before he melts). 

At the end of their adventures together, the children are saddened by Frosty leaving, however, he reassures them by exclaiming, "I'll be back again some day."

In keeping with tradition, this snowman wears only his magical hat.  The design features a triple-bean inner edge stitch lining his body and his hat to add interest and bring light to the stitching.  His branch arms and twig hands are very nature-like as is his carrot nose.

BOTANICAL LEMON Machine Embroidery Applique Design Pattern

I learned a new word today!  ...Vesicle! 

"What is a vesicle?", you may well ask.  After a bit of googling, I found out that vesicles are the little sacks where the juice of citrus fruit is stored within the segments.  You'll understand why I needed to know this word when you see my latest design - Botanical Lemon.  I've put in some triple-stitching detailing the said vesicles.

I would love to know what you think of Botanical Lemon.  I think it would look really fun on table linen - napkins, tea-towels, table cloths.  For garments it would look too cute on a white t-shirt or on the bottom of a skirt or shorts. 

To really show off this great lemon shape, there is also the whole lemon design.  All you need to do is choose your fabric!

ELINA ELEPHANT Machine Embroidery Applique Design Pattern

Thank you to little Alexandra for naming this applique design, Elina Elephant. She tells me this is the name of one of the fairies in Barbie's Fairytopia.

I like the name very much so here she is...introducing, Elina Elephant!

This applique design is one of my favorites.  It features a gorgeous Double-Diamond Stitch edge finish which gives ELINA ELEPHANT a dainty but durable outline.

Perfect for children's garments, it's looks especially cute on a t-shirt!  Also, makes a splash on the babies bib (pictured below).

WISE OWL Machine Embroidery Applique Design Pattern

Wise Owl is now available in 5 sizes! 

4x4 hoop - exact size 2.9" x 3.9"
5x7 hoop - exact sizes 3.7" x 5", 4.4" x 6" and 5"x7"
6x10 hoop - exact size 5.8" x 8"

Here is an animated sew out of Wise Owl.  There are 6 applique areas in this design.  It is best to keep his face relatively plain and the whites of his eyes as white, but you can go crazy with his wings and body.  For an alternative, you can use white colored thread for the outside of his eyes (keeping the pupils dark is best).

The blanket stitch detail around his face can be omitted if desired.  If you are using quite plain fabrics, it is best to keep the detail to add interest.  It gives him a feathery look.

This is a sew out I did using blue and green colored thread and a careful placement of floral fabric. What do you think? Isn't he gorgeous!!!

I have a favorite thing to do when I'm sewing out an applique.  I like to go to the bottom of my fabric stash and use the ones that don't see daylight very often.  It's amazing how often you strike gold!  You can end up with a vastly different look every time you do a sew out.

FROSTED CUPCAKE Machine Embroidery Applique Design Pattern

If there was a recipe for this Frosted Cupcake it would be mix 1 cup of love with 2 cups of happiness!  This is a truly fun and "calorie-free" cupcake to applique. 

Sew a row of them in different thread and fabric color combinations for a really delightful display.

This design features an inner row of Triple-Bean stitching to bring light to the icing and to enhance the folds of the cupcake's cup.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY...

Hello again

My Mum is wonderful! This is her personal interpretation of my WISE OWL applique.



That's the beauty of applique; everyone has a different fabric stash and therefore no two appliques will ever be the same.


I recently recruited my Mum to do my final test sews before I release each design onto the market. I wouldn't sell anything Mum wasn't happy with. Her favourite applique designers are Sew Swell but I'm hoping in time I'll become her favourite applique designer.


Talking about Mums, it's Mother's Day in Australia tomorrow and I can't thank my Mother enough for being the BEST MOTHER IN THE WORLD. She is so supportive and nurturing and means the world to me. Thank you for being my Mum, Mum.


Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums out there. My wish to you is that you get to spend some time doing something which brings you much pleasure.

WISE OWL ...he's gorgeous!

My WISE OWL is finally on Etsy. It's taken a while but I had to make sure he was perfect. He's only US$2.95 and this gets you two different sizes - 4x4 and 5x7 as well as detailed step-by-step instructions.



Have a look at the photos. As you can see, using different fabric and thread colors you end up with two very different Owls.

This owl would look wonderful on a t-shirt or on bed linen - you name it. The possibilities are endless.

My next project is a bird with a long tail. I'm calling her Wilhelmina Wagtail. I've always liked the name Wilhelmina. An oldie but a goodie!
